The Patriots boys’ basketball team beat the Red Rock Central Falcons 70-38 Friday, Dec. 13, on the road.
This was the first game of the year for the H-BC boys.
“I thought for our first game we came out and played hard,” head coach Chad Rauk said.
“We set the tone with our defense and were able to get out in transition and get some easy baskets.”

The Luverne girls’ hockey team won two games this past week to bring their season record to 8-5.
The Cardinals beat Worthington 11-0 at home Tuesday, Dec. 10, and defeated Mankato East 5-2 on the road Saturday, Dec. 14.
Luverne was scheduled to host Windom Tuesday, Dec. 17, and travel to Willmar Friday, Dec. 20, before the holiday break.

The Luverne gymnasts fell 136.975 to 133.150 to a solid Worthington team on the road Tuesday, Dec. 10.
Worthington finished last season placing seventh in the team state tournament after holding off Luverne, who placed second in the team section finals in Pipestone.

The Luverne High School wrestling team traveled to Worthington for a triangular Tuesday, Dec. 10, when LHS fell 39-35 to Windom-Mountain Lake and lost 47-30 to Worthington the same day.
On Saturday, Dec. 14, the Cardinals participated in the 2024 Pizza Ranch Invite in Jackson. Luverne finished with three placers and had seven wrestlers not able to place in the tournament.

The Luverne Cardinals boys’ hockey team notched two wins and one tie over the past week.
The Cardinals beat Marshall 4-2 Tuesday, Dec. 3, and Redwood Valley 11-2 Thursday, Dec. 5, and they tied Waseca 3-3 after an eight-minute overtime period.

The Luverne gymnastics team hosted Blue Earth Thursday, Dec. 5, beating the Buccaneers 132.375 to 125.850 in varsity team competition.
“I thought the girls did an amazing job on Thursday,” head coach Phoebe Flom said.

Marshall beat Luverne 5-1 on the road Tuesday, Dec. 3, and Luverne defeated the Windom Eagles 5-1 Thursday, Dec. 5, in Windom. The Cardinals won over Waseca 5-2 at home Saturday, Dec. 7.

The Luverne girls’ basketball team took to the court against the Edgerton Dutchmen Monday, Nov. 25, on the road and fell in a close 56-52 game.
With senior Maria Rops still out with a knee injury and senior Kylie Vander Lugt on the bench, Luverne dressed several underclassmen for the game.
