Southwest region pheasant numbers saw significant, triple-digit increases in the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources’ annual roadside pheasant survey.

The Patriots hosted Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda Thursday, Aug. 31, in nine-man football competition.
The Patriots beat the Coyotes 51-6 in the opening season game.

The Luverne cross country team participated in the Metcalf Invitational at Mountain Lake Golf Course Friday, Sept. 1.
Luverne was one of 15 teams at the event.

The Luverne Redbirds lost to the Bluffton Braves 1-0 Saturday, Sept. 2, in Dassel, ending an extended playoff season that boasted a 26-2 record.
The Braves were able to score one run in the first inning, and that is where the score stood for the entire game.
