    Sheriff Evan Verbrugge announced his resignation to county commissioners Tuesday morning. His last day will be Sept. 30. “I have struggled with this decision, but I know in my heart that it is time for me to step away while things are in excellent condition,” he stated in a letter.     For the second year in a row, wind energy production taxes will exceed $1 million in Rock County. The five wind production farms will pay $1.062 million in 2025, about a $1,000 less than last year. The 165 turbines operating in the county generated 901,300 megawatt-hours of electricity in 2024.
