    The Luverne Redbirds completed a 15-2 regular season Sunday and earned the No. 1 seed in the Region 13C playoffs.   The team was 13-2 in league play and finished first in the Gopher League.   Region 13C is made up of 11 teams from the Gopher League and the First Nite League.     The ninth annual Davis Lake Triathlon once again kicked off the Fourth of July activities at The Lake Thursday. The triathlon has two divisions, the Minnows and the Sharks. The Minnows race is a quarter mile kayak, two-mile bike ride and one-mile run. The Sharks race is a half mile kayak, eight-mile bike ride and 2-1/2-mile run. Both races can be completed by individuals or 3-person teams.…

    The Luverne Sr. Legion baseball team had a busy schedule this past week, finishing 2-3-1. Luverne beat Minneota 9-6 on Tuesday, July 2, at home. They fell to Rosetown 12-1 and to Omaha 14-6 Friday, July 5, in the New Ulm tournament. In the second day of the tournament Saturday, July 6, the Sr. Legion lost to Mankato 6-0 and tied New Ulm 5-5.     The Luverne Redbirds played just one game last week, taking the Jackson Bulls 4-1 at Redbird Field Sunday, July 7. The Redbirds were scheduled to travel to Brookings Monday, July 8, but the game was canceled due to player availability.     On Wednesday, June 12, Brady Bork got his first hole-in-one at the Luverne Country Club on hole No. 3. Bork used a seven iron from 170 yards to the hole for the ace. “After seeing a lot of my shots get close over the years, it didn’t seem real that one finally went in,” Bork said. His dad, Randy Bork, witnessed the shot and video-recorded retrieving the ball from the cup.
