LHS and H-BC teams battle wind at Trojan Relays

Luverne and Hills-Beaver Creek athletes performed well in windy conditions at the Trojan Relays Tuesday, May 12, in Worthington.

The LHS girls’ team finished in second place in Class AA team competition with 135 points.

Cards slide to 14-3 season record

The Luverne High School baseball team lost 15-8 to Windom Tuesday, May 12, on the road and beat Adrian-Ellsworth 10-0 Monday, May 18, in Adrian.

The Cardinals, now 14-3 for the season, will travel to Montevideo Thursday, May 21, before sections play starts Tuesday, May 26.

Luverne softball team catches two wins

The Luverne girls’ softball team closed the regular season with a pair of wins against Worthington and Marshall.

LHS beat Worthington 23-3 on the road Tuesday, May 12, and took down Marshall 10-3 at home Thursday, May 14.

Jarchow earns all-conference first team tennis honors

University of Northwestern senior Griffen Jarchow has been named to the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) All-Conference First team in men’s tennis.

LHS girls’ track team finish True Team meet in 12th place

The Luverne girls’ track and field team placed 12th in stiff True Team competition Saturday, May 16, in Eden Prairie.

Though they finished last of the 12 teams, Luverne had 12 Top 10 finishes and had 10 personal best and five season best performances on the day.

 

H-BC completes golf conference meet with two Red Rock Conference players

The Hills-Beaver Creek boys’ golf team finished the Red Rock Conference Meet Tournament in fourth place Tuesday, May 12, at Great Life Golf and Fitness Golf Course in Worthington.

The girls’ team did not have enough players to register scores as a team.

Cards close Big South Conference meet with five all-conference players

The Luverne High School golf team closed out the Big South Conference Championship at Dakota Ridge Golf Club in Morton Tuesday, May 12.

The boys’ team finished in fourth place and the girls’ team placed eighth in conference standings.

Redbirds fall by one run to Milroy Irish

The Redbirds baseball team fell 3-2 to the Milroy Irish on the road Sunday, May 17, giving up one run in the ninth inning for the loss.

Tied 2-2 after eight innings, Milroy mustered one run in the bottom of the ninth inning, stealing home to win the game.

Lady Pates track team crowned Red Rock Conference Champions

The H-BC girls’ track and field team earned Red Rock Conference Championship honors placing first in the team competition Thursday, May 14, in Tyler.

The Patriots finished with 164 points topping second-place team Southwest Minnesota Christian-Edgerton by 33 points.
