•Each year, in his role as Luverne High School counselor, Craig Nelson gives LHS freshmen a list of careers. 

Stephanie Bass and Kristi Metzger have been recognized as the Hills- Beaver Creek Teacher of the Year and Friend of Education of the Year, respectively. 

Three Hills-Beaver Creek seniors are planning to pursue education as college degrees. Claire Knobloch, Mya Erickson and Hadley Spath received recognition for their career plans on Monday, May 11, at the H-BC secondary school. 

Mary Ward passed away on May 19, 2026. 

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Monday, May 25, at Heritage Funeral Home followed by a lunch before burial in Pipestone, Minn. 

Sara L. Misterek, age 43, of Luverne, died Thursday, May 21, 2026, at the Sanford USD Medical Center, in Sioux Falls, S.D. 

A private family service will take place at a later date with the Dingmann Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Luverne.

Richard “Dick” Grill, age 86, of Luverne, Minn., died Thursday, May 21, 2026, while at the Luverne Hospice Cottage. 

In loving memory of Robert Heitman. Robert Alan Heitman was born Sunday, March 9, 1952, in Quinn, S.D. He died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, in Sioux Falls, S.D. at the age of 73 years, 11 months, 4 days.

We have two reading programs — one for kids and one for adults.
