Doris Betty Stuckenbroker was born on March 30, 1929, on a farm in Rosedell Township of Rock County, Minn., to Julius and Josephine (Wybouw) VanLeirsburg. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Jasper, Minn., where she also attended Country School at District 41. Doris fell in love with her lifelong dance partner, Harry Stuckenbroker in Hardwick, Minn., at the Gem Dancehall. On Nov. 13, 1948, they were united in marriage at St. Josephs Catholic Church. The couple went on to be blessed with 71 years together and four children.
Doris loved living on the farm and helping alongside Harry until they retired in 2013, when Doris was 84 years old. Harry preceded Doris in death on Jan. 28, 2020. Doris joined Harry at their heavenly home on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026, at the Pipestone County Hospice House in Pipestone, Minn., at the age of 97 years, five months and 20 days.
Doris loved baking, bowling, playing cards with friends for over 50 years, gardening and tending to her beautiful flower gardens. Many people told her that her lawn and gardens were parallel to state parks in their beauty. Faith and education were extremely important to her and she instilled those values into her children and to the following generations. To her family, Doris was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. To others she was an honest woman of integrity, caring and gentle with all and above all, lived her life with her Lord as her guide. Her sense of humor will surely be missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
Doris is lovingly remembered by her children, Linda (Mark) Paulson of Wadena, Minn., Nancy (Randy) DeSchepper of New London, Minn., and Larry (Linda) Stuckenbroker of Windom, Minn.; son-in-law, Robert VanDeWiele; 12 grandchildren, Katie VanDeWiele, Kristi (Elias) Cantu, Patrick (Mary Cait) VanDeWiele, Laura (Mike) Weber, Joe (Kim) Paulson, Francis (Megan) DeSchepper, Phillip DeSchepper (Jordana Allen), Josephine DeSchepper, Jarrod (Heather) Stuckenbroker, Jessica (Kelsey) Fossing, Jaclyn (Jason) DeWall, and Jeff (Michelle) Stuckenbroker; 28 great-grandchildren; her sister, Lorraine Melby; sister-in-law, Helen Stuckenbroker.
