Dave and Linda Iverson moved into their home at Dodge Street and Kniss Avenue 54 years ago when Dave started as a veterinarian at Rock Vet Clinic, and this maple tree was large and mature at that time. On March 16 the 100-year-old tree will come down along with 30 others marked in boulevards and properties on North Highway 75 ahead of the road construction project slated for this spring and summer.

Band button design contest for Tri-State Band Festival opens to the public for 75th anniversary event this year

For the first time in its 75-year history, Luverne’s Tri-State Band Festival will open its button design contest to the public.

Previously open only to students, the contest has been an annual event since 1976 when the first winner, Missy Weinman, received $10 in prize money.

February is ‘I Love to Read’ Month

As part of February’s I Love to Read Month, Luverne Elementary School students and staff had fun with special dress up days. Friday, Feb. 27, was “Space Jammies and Popcorn Day,” and Elementary Principal Stacy Gillette popped popcorn for students and staff to enjoy while reading.

Great game, sad ending

The Luverne boys’ hockey team ended their season earlier than they expected.

The Cardinals fell 2-1 to Mankato West Thursday, Feb. 26, in the Section 3A Championship game in St. Peter.

It took three overtime periods to decide who would move on to the 2026 state tournament.

Lady Pates girls' basketball team heads to Section 3A Championship

After two section basketball playoff wins, the H-BC Lady Pates will take on Central Minnesota Christian for the Section 3A Championship Thursday, March 5, in Marshall.
