Donna Landsman’s life has always involved pheasants and feathers.

When Rock County’s construction and demolition debris landfill was established 21 years ago, it was expected to reach full capacity in 35 years.
However, it appears the landfill will be full before then, according to discussion at the Oct. 18 County Board meeting.

Area producers are on track to set production and yield records for 2016, the second growing year in a row.
The state’s corn harvest is forecasted at 1.49 billion bushels, according to the latest USDA crop production report.

Rock County deputies were involved Tuesday morning in the arrest of a South Dakota kidnapping suspect who led authorities on a pursuit from Sioux Falls to western Rock County.
The suspect was apprehended around 9:30 a.m. just over the border into South Dakota after Rock County farmers reported a car speeding down a gravel road into an abandoned acreage.

Mankato authorities arrested a homeless man in Blue Earth County Tuesday in connection with a 25-year-old Pennsylvania homicide case.
The news struck a chord in Rock County after authorities said the suspect listed Magnolia as his most recent address.

She said sleeping in or planning the next travel destination may never be on her to-do list, but volunteering is.

Rock County Sheriff Evan Verbrugge said he was surprised to receive state and national media inquiries Tuesday about a homicide arrest involving a Magnolia man.

Saturday marks a milestone for the local Masonic Temple.
At a 5 p.m. rededication ceremony, the Ben Franklin Lodge No. 114 members will shed some light on the world’s oldest fraternity. The ceremony is open to the public.
