Patriots golf team plays strong on local links

The Hills-Beaver Creek golf teams played strong on the links this past week.

The boys’ and girls’ teams competed in Week 3 of the Red Rock Conference Meet and took on Adrian-Ellsworth in nine-hole head-to-head play Tuesday, May 5, in Tyler.

LHS girls’ golf places eighth in conference championship

The Luverne girls’ golf team placed eighth in the Big South Conference Championship out of 14 strong teams May 11 in Morton, Minn.

In the Knight Invitational May 8, the LHS boys’ team finished in third place and the girls’ team placed fourth in the team competition.

Trap teams record Week 3 results

The Luverne High School trap team remains at No. 3 in the Class 2A, Conference 4 team standings with a total of 3,705.00 targets hit after three weeks of shooting.

Collin Knips and Lucas Madison scored a team-leading 47 targets hits in the third week.

Semi rollover claims life of 21-year-old driver

The community is mourning the loss of 21-year-old Caden Metzger, Sioux Falls, who died in a semi rollover accident Thursday, May 7. 

He and his passenger, Matthew Renken, 24, Hills, were hauling water and farm chemicals to tender a sprayer in a field.
