LHS falls 44-13 to undefeated Huskies

The Luverne Cardinals football team fell 44-13 to the Jackson County Central Huskies at home Thursday, Oct. 9.

Luverne came into the game 5-1 against the undefeated 6-0 Huskies.

Patriots beat Wolverines, improve to 7-0

The Hills-Beaver Creek Patriots football team made quick work of Mountain Lake Friday, Oct. 10, beating the Wolverines 60-0 on the road.

“We had a fast start defensively in the first quarter with senior Eduardo Wegener getting two pick sixes,” H-BC head coach Rex Metzger said.  

Cardinal volleyball drops two matches on the road

The Luverne High School volleyball team fell twice on the road this past week.

Luverne lost 3-1 to Fairmont Tuesday, Oct. 7, and fell 3-1 to Adrian/Ellsworth Friday, Oct. 10.

Easton Johnson commits to play hockey for Michigan

Luverne native Easton Johnson has recently committed to playing hockey for the Wolverines at the University of Michigan.

Sixteen-year-old Johnson most recently played for the U.S. National U17 Team in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Girls tennis closes out 2025 season at sections

The Luverne girls’ tennis team finished their 2025 season at the Section 3A Individual Tournament at Huether Family Match Pointe in Sioux Falls Monday, Oct. 13.

Luverne finishes strong at Adrian Invite

The Luverne girls’ varsity cross country team placed second and the boys’ team finished in sixth at Adrian/Ellsworth Invitational Tuesday, Oct. 7.

Conditions were cool and calm with temps in the 70s for the competition at the Adrian Country Club.

H-BC wins Queens of the Court trophy against Edgerton Public for first time in four years

The Patriots volleyball team lost matches to conference opponents Westbrook Walnut Grove and Mountain Lake but won the Queens of the Court trophy for the first time against Edgerton Public this past week.

H-BC fell 3-0 to a strong Westbrook Walnut Grove team Tuesday, Oct. 7.
