Kenneth Cragoe, 90, of Borrego Springs, California, passed away July 6.

Martha S. Meinerts, age 89, of Lakeville, Minnesota, formerly of Luverne, Minnesota, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at The Fountains of Hosanna in Lakeville.

Sharon DeVries, 84, of Le Mars, Iowa, formerly of Sioux Center, Iowa, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the Sanford Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, surrounded by her family.

Two men with longtime connections to the Luverne High School track and field program recently received statewide recognition. 

The Luverne Redbirds secured their second consecutive Gopher League regular season championship and improved their record to 15-2 with home victories over the Hadley Buttermakers, Sioux Falls Brewers, and Milroy Irish last week.

       The Luverne Senior Legion baseball team completed a 9-4-1 regular season campaign and won its first two playoff games during a busy week.

The Luverne Redbirds completed a 15-2 regular season Sunday and earned the No. 1 seed in the Region 13C playoffs.  

The Luverne Junior Legion baseball team won two more games this week, defeating Minneota 10-0 and Fairmont 13-1.

With a break from the rains, I was willing to venture outside a bunch this past week. My rain gauge in Nobles County had 15.2 inches of rain over the past few weeks.
