The leaders we elect make decisions that affect our daily lives. Elections are our chance to stand up for what matters most to us and to have an impact on the issues that affect us, our communities, our families and our future. 

I’m going to teach the Life Skills class at E q u i p t Christian School in Luverne this fall so I’ve spent a lot of time lately pondering which life skills are most important to students in grades K-6.

Question: With summer being upon us, can you get some information out in regards to motorcycle safety? 

Answer: Operating a motorcycle requires different skills than driving a car, so there are some additional requirements for motorcycle riders: 

As construction work on Highway 75 in Luverne continues, access to the school is changing. 

Starting on Monday, Aug. 10, drivers will no longer be able to use the Barck Street crossing to access the school. This intersection will be closed for one week.

Birth announcement 

A baby boy, Ole Nicholas Aanenson, was born to Lesya and Denton Aanenson July 2, 2026, in Sioux Falls. Baby Ole weighted 9 pounds, 4 ounces and was 21.5 inches long. 

Monday, Aug. 10: Herb-baked chicken, rice pilaf, mixed vegetables, dinner roll and chocolate pudding with whipped topping. 

Tuesday, Aug. 11: Beef hamburger on a bun, baked beans, rosemary garlic potatoes, lime gelatin with pears.
