My column countdown is at the end of the road. This will be the last one. For over 20 years every other week I hunted and pecked out a column. 

At the top of each of those columns was the heading “For What It’s Worth,” but I’m not sure what the “worth” was of most of the columns.

A new book highlighting everything special about Luverne in an alphabetical format will be introduced to the community on July 30. 

Illustrated by local artist Janine Brands, “A to Z Luverne” was written by a committee under the umbrella of Luverne Initiatives for Tomorrow.

Lorraine Olson, age 96, of Luverne, Minn., passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, Minn.
