Storm causes damage in Rock County

The early morning storms of Sunday, June 28, caused significant damage in some areas of Rock County. 

In Hardwick high winds downed trees that damaged properties and blocked roads, with community members spending much of the next day in clean-up efforts. 

Plea hearing st for Aug. 17 in murder, vehicular homicide case

Jayson Delfs, Hardwick, appeared in Rock County District Court Monday on charges of third-degree murder and vehicular homicide related to the March 2025 fatal crash northwest of Beaver Creek. 

Junior Legion teams fall in double headers against Worthington and Madison

Luverne’s Junior Legion White and Red teams both gave up two games in double-header action this past week.

Luverne White fell 11-1 to Madison on the road June 23 and lost 4-1 to Worthington at home June 25.

ACE celebrates volunteers, success of 2025 in annual report

ACE of Southwest Minnesota, an area nonprofit that serves aging population members across eight counties, celebrated its successes of the last year during an annual report presented to the Rock County Board on Tuesday, June 16.

Eleven Luverne Cardinals athletes earn Big South All-Conference honors

Eleven Luverne Cardinal athletes were named to 2026 Big South All-Conference teams in baseball and golf.

Baseball honors go to seniors Jaxon Lais, Blake Sauer, Josh Hansen, Maddux Domagala and junior Maddox Miller.

Senior Landyn Lais was named all-conference honorable mention.

Courts uphold election laws in three rulings

This week, three U.S. District Courts issued new rulings upholding current election laws across the country. 

•On June 22, the U.S. District Court of the District of Columbia ruled that the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) system violates federal law.
