    The Luverne Junior Legion baseball team is the Southwest Sub State (A-Pod) champion after beating Russell-Tyler-Ruthton twice at home this past week.     After completing a 15-2 regular season, the Luverne Redbirds won the 2024 Gopher League title and earned the No. 1 seed for the Region 13C playoffs.     The ninth annual Davis Lake Triathlon once again kicked off the Fourth of July activities at The Lake Thursday. The triathlon has two divisions, the Minnows and the Sharks. The Minnows race is a quarter mile kayak, two-mile bike ride and one-mile run. The Sharks race is a half mile kayak, eight-mile bike ride and 2-1/2-mile run.     The Luverne Sr. Legion baseball team had a busy schedule this past week, finishing 2-3-1. Luverne beat Minneota 9-6 on Tuesday, July 2, at home.     Dan Ellingson, Hills, aced hole No. 6 at the Adrian Country Club Tuesday, July 2. He used a six iron for his second hole-in-one. Ellingson said his first was “last century, at Willow Run.” The hole-in-one was witnessed by a foursome that included Don Bosshart, Luverne.
