Notice of Public Hearing for Conditional Use Permit
for Brad, Derek, Jacob and Austin Van Santen 
Pursuant to the Rock County Zoning Ordinance, notice is hereby given by the Rock County Planning and Zoning Commission that a public hearing will be held at the Rock County Law Enforcement Center located at 1000 North Blue Mound Avenue, Luverne, Minnesota at 7:00 p.m., Monday, July 25, 2022. The purpose of this hearing is to rule on the application for Conditional Use Permit for the following:
Applicant
& Property Owner: Brad, Derek, Jacob and Austin Van Santen 
Location: NW 1/4 of the NW 1/4 of Section 33 of Mound Town-
ship, T103N, R45W, Rock County, Minnesota
Conditional Use: Expansion of an existing feedlot to 1540 animal units
Zoning District: A-2, General Agriculture 
The conditional use is for the expansion of an existing feedlot on the property described above. The feedlot consists of a total confinement barn housing 100 head of feeder cattle with manure pack on the floor and a 66’ x 322’ total confinement barn with under floor concrete pit liquid manure storage housing 600 head of finishing cattle.  Using 0.7 animal units for the feeder cattle and 1.0 animal units for the finishing cattle, the current permitted capacity of the existing site is 670 animal units.
The expansion shall consist of a 75’ x 363’4” total confinement barn with underfloor concrete pit liquid manure storage. The area housing the 100 head of feeder cattle will be modified to house 40 stock cows. The expansion is to hold 900 head of finishing cattle. Using 1.0 animal unit per head, the permitted capacity of the expansion shall be 870 animal units.
The site, after expansion, will have a total capacity of 1540 animal units.
