Try your luck at the Fall Carnival

By Jolene FarleyThe Patriot Partners Fall Carnival is from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Hills-Beaver Creek Elementary gymnasium. The event is a fund-raiser for the Hills-Beaver Creek Patriot Partners. "It’s a good one for us," said Patriot Partner President Dan LaRock. "I think it is the fourth year we’ve done the carnival."Some of the carnival games include a cakewalk, Plinko, Wheel of Fortune, beanbag toss, and dart, baseball, football and basketball throws. The highest bidder at the silent auction takes home items created or developed by every class at Hills-Beaver Creek Elementary School. The Sioux Falls Storm Football Team mascot will pass out items to kids attending the carnival. Another team mascot may also visit during the evening, according to LaRock. Those attending the carnival can buy raffle tickets to win a Hills-Beaver Creek Patriot etched stone. The drawing for the item is later in the year.Pizza and pop will be served throughout the evening.Last year the carnival raised $938 for the Patriot Partners. Funds earned went toward three $500 scholarships for senior Hills-Beaver Creek High School students, grants to the library system and support of the high school locker room project. The Patriot Partners are active boosters of the school system. "We’re proud the community has supported this carnival and the kids have a great time," LaRock said. "The generosity allows us to host the carnival each year."
