Arends, Kracht win at Rapid Speedway

Colton Arends and Thomas Kracht placed first in their feature races to lead local dirt track drivers over the weekend.
Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, Iowa, hosted two nights of racing action and Rock County drivers took full advantage of the extra night of racing.
Murray County Speedway in Slayton also hosted two nights of racing.
In addition to the normal Friday night races, Slayton hosted the second race of the 2020 LSR Enduro Series Saturday night.
 
Rapid Speedway
The inaugural Rock River Rumble presented by Papik Motors was staged at Rapid Speedway Friday and Saturday nights.
Thirteen Rock County drivers competed in three different classes during the two nights of racing.
Colton Arends and Thomas Kracht, both of Luverne, highlighted local results.
Arends picked up his second feature win of the season in Rock Rapids when he placed first in the Stock Cars A Feature Saturday.
Kracht took home the checkered flag in the Hobby Stocks feature the same night. Eric Gaul of Luverne finished third in the same race.
On Friday night at Rock Rapids, Kracht finished fifth and Gaul placed seventh in the Hobby Stocks A Feature.
Seven Rock County racers competed in the Stock Cars A Feature race Friday night.
Luverne’s Scott Overgaard finished fourth in the race and Chad Overgaard of Luverne placed fifth.
Spencer Kalass, Luverne, and Arends finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the same race Friday night.
 
Murray County Speedway
Luverne’s Jeremy Smith competed in the IMCA A Modifieds class Friday night in Slayton.
Smith finished second in Heat 2 before placing eighth in the feature race.
Murray County Speedway also hosted an LSR Enduro series race Saturday night.
Five Rock County enduro drivers competed in the event.
Jasmine Kalass of Luverne led the local field placing fifth. Greg VandeVelde finished 12th overall.
