The Luverne volleyball team traveled to Fairmont for the Cardinals’ first game of the season Saturday, Aug. 26, taking three games 25-15, 25-19 and 29-19.
Junior Amira Cowell led Luverne with 15 set assists, and junior Hannah Sneller had 10 set assists.
Junior Ella Reisdorfer had nine kills for the Cardinals, senior Morgan Ahrendt had eight kills, senior Kira John had seven kills and senior Tori Serie had six kills.
Kira John led Luverne with two solo blocks and four assisted blocks.
Ahrendt was 17 of 18 serving with three aces, Cowell was 12 of 13 with 1 ace, and Serie was 11 of 11 with two aces.
Junior Kylie Vander Lugt had 14 digs for the Cardinals, with senior Belle Smidt, Reisdorfer and Ahrendt each coming up with 10 digs.
Luverne heads to Southwest Minnesota Christian to take on the Eagles Tuesday, Aug. 29, in Edgerton.
The Cardinals will host a triangular Thursday, Aug. 31. Luverne will be taking on Murray County Central at 3:30 p.m. and West Lyon at 4:40 p.m.
