Six head of cattle, long yearlings, and two-year-olds, belonging to Geo. Binford, of Rose Dell Township, were killed by a single bolt of lightning early Sunday morning while in the pasture. Henry Sodemann, census enumerator for Luverne Township, completed his work last Friday and made his final report to the state enumerator. Mr. Sodemann’s report shows that the population of Luverne Township is 457. This is an increase of only three in the past five years, the population in 1900 being 454.
Street Commissioner M. Connell made some commendable improvements at the bank corners by having constructed platforms over the drainage holes and deep gutters at these points. The platforms not only serve to materially improve the appearance of the streets, but also will keep the gutters free of rubbish.
Cannon crackers longer than six inches in length will not be permitted to be fired on the Fourth on Main Street or within three hundred feet of Main Street.
