10 years ago (1994)"Several Rock County farmers are getting the chance to make up for money lost during last summer’s flooding.The Rock County Highway Department is making up for time lost when they were tied down with flood repair work.A grant through the Southwest Minnesota Private Industry Council allows Rock County to hire farmers to do work that may otherwise be neglected. At the same time, it helps those who lost income due to floods."25 years ago (1979)"Side effects of the political power struggle that has plagued the country of Iran in recent weeks are being felt in Luverne by the A.R. Wood Manufacturing Company. A shipment of poultry cage laying equipment, valued in excess of $400,000, is being held in a customs warehouse in the beleaguered country.Release of the equipment hinges on the reopening of the banks, which local company officials hope will result in the release of the money owed to the firm for the equipment."50 years ago (1954)"George Golla was elected chairman of a county wide organization which will spark a campaign to raise funds for a new Community Hospital building here. Burdell Rowe was elected secretary of the committee. A group of interested citizens representing various sections of Rock County met Tuesday night at the Jake Schoon home to discuss the need for a new hospital building."75 years ago (1929)"Ellsworth’s uncommonly fast independent basketball team won a close victory over their Lismore opponents in the battle staged Tuesday evening at the Armory in this city. The score was 13 to 14.These two teams had played two games, each one winning a game on their own floor and the ‘rubber’ was played on the neutral floor offered by Luverne."100 years ago (1904)"A deal was closed by Finke & Severson Monday whereby F.R. Myrick sold the north half of section 9, Martin township, which includes the Myrick claim and the old Finkelson place, to George D. Nelson, for $65 an acre. Mr. Myrick takes in exchange Mr. Nelson’s 120 acres, known as the Vail land, at $60. This deal involved a consideration of $28,000."
