Remember when?

10 years ago (1994)"Luverne’s city officials may be too dignified to throw their hats into the air with loud, joyful whoops, but they were smiling Tuesday when they announced Berkley Information Services will expand operations in Luverne.A letter of intent between Berkley Corporation and the Luverne Economic Development Authority has been agreed to, promising significant economic growth in the community."25 years ago (1979)"Residents of the Magnolia School District will vote on dissolving the school district as of July 1 of this year. The election will be held on April 9 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Magnolia School. If the question is approved by the voters, it will take a special localized bill approved by this session of the Legislature to meet the July 1 deadline."50 years ago (1954)"Even the most optimistic wouldn’t have predicted the tremendous vote of confidence the voters of Consolidated School District No. 80 gave the special bond election last Friday.A total of 1,813 voters trooped to the polls … 1,521 of them said ‘yes’ and only 291 said ‘no.’ One ballot was spoiled. The vote was one of the largest of its kind for a special election in the history of this community. School officials estimated there are approximately 2,500 eligible voters in the district, so Friday’s vote was cast by about 72 percent of those eligible."75 years ago (1929)"A crowd of about fifteen hundred people attended A.F. Hamann’s 6th annual horse sale, held Monday afternoon at the fair grounds in this city. All horses sold brought satisfactory prices. Mike Nolan, a Wisconsin horse buyer, was one of the largest purchasers, securing six of the choicer horses brought into the sales ring, and he paid close to the top in most instances. He secured a team of black mares at $474, a team of geldings, a bay and a black at $320, and a pair of blue roan mares at $467."100 years ago (1904)"Contractor P.N. Gillham is again able to be around, after being confined to his home for the past two weeks by a severe attack of neuralgia combined with the grip. This illness has retarded Mr. Gillham’s plans for re-commencing the work on the Carnegie library building, but the present indications are that work will be resumed next Monday."
