Jeffrey Karl Wollman was born on Nov. 12, 1960, in Yankton, South Dakota, to Aaron “Lloyd” and Darlene (Herrboldt) Wollman. He was raised in Springfield, South Dakota, where he spent much of his youth helping at his parents’ bar, “The Tap.”
From an early age, Jeff showed a strong work ethic by cleaning the bar before school, delivering newspapers, and always stepping in wherever help was needed.
He grew up alongside his siblings, John and Donna, sharing a close bond filled with adventure, from swimming in the Missouri River to exploring the outdoors and supporting one another throughout their lives.
Jeff graduated from Springfield High School in 1979 and went on to attend the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, earning his Bachelor of Science in Business in 1984.
He built a successful career of more than 30 years in the insurance claims industry. He worked for GAB Business Services, St. Paul Companies, Hoy Trial Lawyers, and RAS before becoming an entrepreneur and founding Hospital Recoveries LLC and Medi-Adjust LLC.
While working at St. Paul Companies, Jeff met the love of his life, Lori. They were married on December 30, 1993, in Sioux Falls, beginning a partnership defined by love, mutual respect, and shared purpose. Together, they built a life centered on family, which brought Jeff his greatest pride and joy.
That joy was most evident in his role as a father to Taylor and Aaron. Jeff shared a special bond with each of his children.
From birth, Taylor had him wrapped around her finger, while Aaron, affectionately known as “My Boy,” grew into an intelligent and caring young man who made him incredibly proud. Jeff found deep meaning in fatherhood and was devoted to his children in every stage of their lives.
Jeff retired in January, looking forward to more time with family, new adventures, and a well-earned change of pace.
Though his retirement was just beginning, it was filled with hope and anticipation.
On Thursday, March 19, 2026, Jeff passed away unexpectedly at Sanford Luverne Medical Center in Luverne, Minnesota, at the age of 65. His passing leaves an immeasurable loss for those who knew and loved him.
Jeff found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved biking and exploring new trails, especially during family trips. Long drives, road trips, and classic rock were among his favorite pastimes, often accompanied by a quick photo or video to capture the moment.
He enjoyed grilling, being behind the wheel, and, most of all, spending time with those he loved. Animals, especially his cats, held a special place in his heart and brought him comfort and happiness.
More than anything, Jeff will be remembered for the way he made people feel. His easygoing nature, steady presence, and unmistakable laugh put others at ease. He had a quiet kindness, a gentle spirit, and a genuine way of connecting with people that made everyone feel welcome and valued.
To know Jeff was to feel seen, cared for, and included.
He lived by a simple belief: “Be kind to others.” It was not just something he said, but something he practiced every day in his words, his actions, and the way he showed up for others. His love for his family was constant and unwavering, and he shared a special bond with his nieces and nephews as well.
Jeff is lovingly remembered by his wife, Lori; his children, Taylor Wollman of Luverne and Aaron (Stella Chen) Wollman of Omaha, Nebraska; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aaron “Lloyd” and Darlene, and his in-laws, Herb and Darlene Ennenga.
Jeff’s presence was a gift to all who knew him. Though he is deeply missed, his legacy lives on in the kindness he showed, the love he gave, and the memories he created. Those who knew him carry forward his example—to live with warmth, generosity, and a simple reminder that still echoes: be kind to others.
