Luverne and Hills-Beaver Creek track and field teams had a strong start to the 2026 spring season in Luverne and Garretson meets over the past week.

Girls’ softball team wins two games and falls once to improve to 3-1

The Luverne High School softball team went 2-1 this past week recording four home runs by two batters along the way.

The Cardinals lost 14-7 to Esko and beat Minneota-Canby 11-1 on Saturday, April 11, at home before taking down Edgerton 4-1 on the road Monday, April 13.

LHS baseball team steals three wins

The Luverne High School baseball team pocketed three wins over the past week, improving its record 3-0.

The Cardinals beat Pipestone 12-7 on the road Friday, April 10, and Esko 5-4 at home Saturday, April 11, before taking down Fairmont 6-1 on the road Monday, April 13.

Not guilty pleas entered in local case of murder, homicide

Jayson Delfs, Hardwick, appeared in Rock County District Court Monday on charges of third-degree murder and vehicular homicide related to last year’s fatal crash northwest of Beaver Creek. 

North Highway 75 now closed in Luverne

Highway 75 closed this week in Luverne between Main Street and Dodge Street for the highway reconstruction project set for April through October. 

The Main Street and Dodge Street intersection will remain open for the first phase of the work. 

Cards and Pates golf teams make drive in Worthington

The Luverne and Hills-Beaver Creek boys’ golf teams traveled to Worthington for the Trojan Invite Friday, April 10.

They participated in an 18-hole par 73 stroke tournament against 13 other school teams.
