The Luverne baseball team racked up four conference wins this past week to bring their season record to 13-4.

The Luverne Redbirds caged the Worthington Cubs 10-0 in their season opener Sunday, May 12, at Redbird Field.

The Redbirds piled up nine hits in the game.

Derek Lundgren, the No. 7 batter in the order, led the way by driving in three of Luverne’s nine RBIs.

Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) freshman Paris Van Dyke, Luverne, was named to the 2024 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference All-defensive team.

The Luverne High School boys’ and girls’ track teams took first place at the Big South Conference (small schools) tournament Saturday, May 11, in Redwood Falls.

The LHS boys’ team took top honors with 150 total team points.

The H-BC golf teams played in the third week of the Red Rock Conference tournament Tuesday, May 7.

The Patriot boys’ team traveled to Tyler, where they shot their best 18-hole score of the year, 377, for sixth place in the team competition.

Firearms turkey hunters who have an unused tag from an earlier hunt period can participate in the final spring turkey hunt period from Wednesday, May 22, through Friday, May 31.

The Luverne High School trap team had seven shooters score in the 40s and 13 shooters in the 30s in the third week of trap shooting May 5-11 at the Rock County Sportsman’s Club.

Landon Ahrendt and Jaden Reisch were the top shooters, each with a two-round score of 43.

The Luverne boys’ golf team finished third and the LHS girls’ team placed eighth in the Big South Conference Championship Monday, May 13, at the Dacotah Ridge Golf Club in Morton, Minnesota.

In 18-hole play the Luverne boys finished third with a team score of 318.
