Bob and Marie Walraven went to Ireton, Iowa, Sunday to the home of Marie’s sister-in-law, Ada Barents. There they visited with the Larry Barents, Bellflower, Calif. Their daughter and husband, Bev and Doug of La Mirado, Calif., were also there along with their daughter, Jennie Hinch. Jennie was the pitcher of the U.S. softball team who played and won the Olympics in Athens, Greece. She had her gold medal with her and displayed it with much honor. Friday, Rick, Michele and Patrick Nester, Winona, came to spend the weekend with Joanne Goehle. Saturday all went to Edgerton to celebrate Colby Hadler’s second birthday. Colby spent Saturday evening and Sunday with Joanne and all returned home Sunday evening. Don and Edyth Briggs and Marge Winter, Sioux City, Iowa, went to Lincoln, Neb., Friday. They were joined there by Edyth’s two nieces and families. All attended the Nebraska-Western Illinois football game on Saturday. The Briggs returned home Monday. Last Monday, Colby Hadler, Edgerton, spent the day with his grandmother, Joanne Goehle. Pastor Lowell and Sonja Berg and Amy met friends, Mike and Verna Hasbargen, and Father Tim Wenzel, for a noon meal on Sunday, Sept. 5.Dick and Audrey Heidenson spent a couple of days at Battle Lake with the Steve Heidensons and went to Alexandria to see Dick’s aunt who is in a nursing home. Wayne Schlueter came Thursday evening from Kansas to spend until Monday morning with his mother, Luella Schlueter. They visited Willard and Phyllis Gropel in Luverne Friday. Gus and Ginny Gustason, South Carolina, spent last Saturday in the home of Evelyn Rogness. Sheldon and Ellie Sandager spent the weekend in Blakesburg, Iowa, attending an Antique Aircraft Show where 300 old planes were on display. Sheldon’s old plane was there and he got to fly it once again. Joanne Goehle and Tom hosted the boys’ and girls’ cross country team at a Labor Day breakfast. Congratulations go out to Angela Olson, daughter of Doug and Ellen Olson, Beaver Creek, who was married Saturday to Michael Hageman at First Presbyterian Church in Beaver Creek. The reception was at Beaver Lodge. The couple will make their home in Mitchell, S.D.Dennis Roning went to Big Fork Friday to spend the Labor Day holiday with his daughter, Deniese and Bill Simpson and their children. Harriet Skattum returned home last Monday after spending the weekend in the home of her daughter, Margo and Dewayne Edwards in Forestburg, S.D. They also visited Harriet’s sister, Irene Schade who is in the Assisted Living apartments in Huron, S.D.Wendell and Kathryn Erickson spent last weekend in the home of Mike and Anna Gilman, Eden Prairie, and attended the Minnesota State Fair. Wilmer and Betty Elbers attended the Minnesota State Fair on Saturday. They also visited Tubby Beyenhof at his home. He had been hospitalized but is now recuperating at home. Sunday evening they visited Dutch and Ruth Elbers in Roseville. Wednesday evening they joined the Kroese family at Sioux Center, Iowa, for dinner and on Friday evening they attended the Kansas City-Twins’ game.Vic Sandager was admitted to the Luverne Community Hospital Sunday morning.
