What a day that will be

On our grand-daughter’s second birthday, I watched with excitement as she opened each gift. A big smile would appear on her face each time a gift was put on her lap.  One gift that year was a baby doll that my wife found. As she pulled off the birthday paper, she saw it was a doll. Her eyes became large like a saucer. Her mouth opened in surprised and a loud squeal filled the room. The best gift ever in a two-year old’s memory.
I believe our eyes will grow as large as saucers and the squeal of excitement will come out of every mouth as we see the glory of heaven. We will be in the very presence of God. You probably have read some descriptions the Bible gives about heaven. Read on, then close your eyes and ponder heaven, though words are inadequate to describe heaven. The descriptions are inadequate because we can’t understand something so spectacular.
In heaven there will be no hunger, no thirst, no scorching heat. Christ will be our shepherd and will guide us to springs of living water. God himself will wipe away every tear from our eyes. (Rev 7:16-17)
In heaven, mourning and crying will be removed.  All the reasons we mourn and/or cry on earth will disappear (Rev 21:4). There are so many reasons for sadness today; sickness, marriage problems, children, grandkids, great grandkids, sibling problems, and the list seems endless. In heaven all the reasons for our tears will be removed. What a glorious day that will be when our Jesus we shall see.
As you read this article you may be plagued by pain or you may know someone whose body is riddled with pain. In heaven there will be no more pain. Whatever the cause of the pain on this earth, it will be removed.  Joints will be repaired perfectly, arthritis will be totally gone, cancer will be forgotten, because it is not there.
We will be able to see Christ face to face.  Through the Old Testament we are told that no man can see God face-to-face and live because of sin, but in heaven all sin is removed, and we will see the glorious face of the one who saved us from our sin, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Heaven is a free gift to all who believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Jesus made it possible for all of us to enjoy heaven and all it has to offer.
Enjoy the words Jim Hill penned in the song “What a Day That Will Be”
What a day that will be
When my Jesus I shall see
When I shall look upon His face
The One who saved me by His grace
When He takes by the hand
And leads me to the Promised Land
What a day, glorious day that will be.
