Parent-Teacher Association FormedThe following was printed in the Rock County Herald March 31, 1922:Mrs. J.E. Treat heads new Parent-Teacher AssociationFormation of new organization for advancement of the interest of pupils was completed Monday eveningMrs. J.E. Treat was chosen as president; Mrs. W.F. Finke, vice president; Miss Clara Kienholtz, secretary; and Mrs. D.M. Main, treasurer, of the newly organized Luverne Parent-Teacher Association at a meeting on Monday evening. About 100 people, including parents, teachers and others interested in school work, gathered in the high school assembly room for the purpose of forming the society that citizens and teachers may better cope with problems that may confront them in the education of future citizens. It was decided that all citizens and teachers of Luverne be privileged to join this association, which shall consist of active members only. Meetings will be on the second Monday evening of each month throughout the school year, at 8 o’clock. The annual dues were fixed at the small sum of 25 cents.Under the constitution and by-laws adopted, the officers are: president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. They shall be elected by ballot at the October meeting and will assume their duties immediately upon election. These officers shall constitute an executive board which shall transact the general business of the association, subject to approval.A program committee of three shall be appointed by the president at each meeting to act for the following meeting. Any amendment to the constitution and by-laws shall be presented in writing at the meeting previous to the one at which the vote shall be taken. This constitution may be amended at any regular meeting by a favorable two-thirds vote of the members present, provided the amendment be presented in writing at the previous meeting. C.J. Martin, a member of the school board, gave a talk on "The State Aid Fund," Mrs. Wm. Jacobsen read a paper on "Recreation for Children."Donations to the Rock County Historical Endowment Fund can be sent to the Rock County Historical Society, P.O.
