Adrian repeats as section wrestling champs

By John RittenhouseThe Adrian Dragons captured their second consecutive Section 3AA Team Wrestling Tournament title with a pair of wins in Redwood Falls Friday night.Adrian upended Tracy-Milroy-Balaton by 36 points in the semifinals before rolling to a 35-point victory against Yellow Medicine East in the championship match.By winning the section title, 32-2 Adrian advances to the Minnesota State Class AA Team Wrestling Championships to be staged in the Excel Energy Center in St. Paul Feb. 24-26. Adrian placed second at last year’s state tournament, which was the best performance turned in by an AHS squad at the state classic."We’re happy to be going there again," said Adrian coach Gregg Nelson. "We didn’t wrestle that great Friday, but we were good enough to win. Now we’re ready to get on to bigger and better things."Adrian, which will be making a team appearance in state competition for the seventh time, will take on Section 5AA champion BOLD at 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 26, during the quarterfinals.
