November 13, 2024More than 100 local veterans were honored in a slideshow titled “Local Heroes” Monday morning during the Veterans Day program at Hills-Beaver Creek Secondary School in Hills. The annual event also featured H-BC students at all grade levels reading, singing and playing instruments in recognition of sacrifices made by current and former members of the armed forces.

November 13, 2024Luverne Elementary student council members greeted and later served coffee and sweet rolls in the school commons Monday morning for the Veterans Day Open House. For two hours students and veterans sat together asking each other questions, while other students occasionally walked through to deliver “thank you” messages made in crayon, marker or pencil.

While munching on school-made cinnamon rolls, the discharged and current soldiers shared stories with students, who gave the veterans drawings and cards in thanks for their military service.
