The Luverne girls’ tennis team beat Worthington 7-0 Tuesday, Sept. 12, defeated Pipestone 6-1 Thursday, Sept. 14, and fell to Sioux Falls Lincoln 6-3 Monday, Sept. 18.
The Cardinals were scheduled to travel to St. James Tuesday, Sept. 19, and Redwood Thursday, Sept. 21.

The Luverne girls’ tennis team won two meets over the past week, beating Blue Earth 4-3 Tuesday, Sept. 5, and Marshall 4-3 Thursday, Sept. 7.
“The doubles teams have been playing great all season,” said head coach Jon Beers.
“In the two team matches this week, they were a combined 6-0.”

The Luverne girls’ tennis team lost a close meet to Fairmont at home, 4-3, on Tuesday, Aug. 29.
The Cardinals lost all four singles matches and won their three doubles matches against Fairmont.
In singles play, Luverne’s No. 1 match, senior Sarah Stegenga lost two sets 6-1, 6-1 to Hope Klanderud.
LHS senior Morgan Hadler gave up two sets to Abigail Peyman 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 2 match.

The Luverne girls’ tennis team started the 2023 season beating Morris 4-3 and Benson 4-3 on the road Saturday, Aug. 19.
“It was great to start the season off with two wins,” Luverne head coach Jon Beers said.
“The girls played really well considering how hot it was. The weather really made it a challenging day for all the teams.”
