    The Luverne High School softball players ended their postseason run, falling twice in section play Tuesday, May 28, in Marshall. The Cardinals fell to Dassel-Cokato 6-2 in the semifinals and lost 3-0 to Jackson in the elimination round later that night. LHS finished the season with an 18-7 record.     Luverne native Carly Olson was named to the 2024 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) All-Conference team. Olson, in her freshman year at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, batted in the No. 5 spot all season, started in all 42 of the Gusties’ games between catcher and third base.     The Luverne softball and baseball bats heated up this past week sending eleven balls over the fence. The softball girls had eight homers and the boys baseball team had three.     Luverne Blaze fastpitch softball team sent two teams on to state competition this past week. The Blaze 14U team traveled to Rochester July 22-23 and took home second place in the Minnesota State Championship. The 14U team played three games Saturday, July 22.
