Patriots compete in Bob Nagle Relays at Pipestone

The Patriot track teams participated at the Pipestone Bob Nagle Relays Tuesday, May 3, where the girls’ and boys’ teams both placed fifth among seven teams.
H-BC competed with Luverne, MCC, Pipestone, RTR, SWC-E and TMB in the meet.
The girls’ 4-by-100 (52.97) and 4-by-200 (1:54.14) relay teams of Abbie Harris, Brynn Rauk, Layla Deelstra and Brynn Bakken placed first.
Bakken also came in first in the 200-meter-dash with a time of 27.82 and in long jump with a jump of 15-10 3/4.
Layla Deelstra was second (13.73) in the 100-meter dash. Kenadie Fick was second in the 1600-meter run with a season-best 5:53.90.
The 4-by-400 relay team of Harris, Fick, Olivia Deelstra and Taylor Durst finished fourth with a time of 4:34.99.
Eighth-grader Ally Birger also placed fourth in shot put with a throw of 30-9.
The 4-by-800 relay team came in fifth in 11:15.20. The team included Fick, Durst, Bailey Spykerboer and Emma Deelstra.
On the boy’s side sophomore Cooper Gehrke placed first in the 100-meter dash with a personal best time of 11.82.
The boys’ 4-by-100-meter relay team of Ty Bundesen, Luke Fuerstenberg, Eli Taubert and Gehrke turned in a second-place effort with a time of 47.28.
The 4-by-200 relay team of Bundesen, Taubert, Raymon and Gehrke placed third (1:38.30).
The Patriots’ 4-by-400-meter relay team of Raymon, Taubert, Micah Bush and Blake Leenderts was fourth in 3:57.24.
Raymon was took second in the triple jump with a 40-3 and fifth in the 100-meter (12.24).
Max Scholten placed third in shot put with a throw of 42-5.
Junior Brock Harnack was fifth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 47.72.
Juniors Luke Fuerstenberg and Eli Taubert each had sixth-place finishes of their own, Fuertstenberg in the 100-meter (12.26) and 200-meter dash (25.58) and Taubert in high jump (5-4).
