H-BC girls’ basketball beats HLOF 50-17

The H-BC girls’ basketball team took down Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda 50-17 on the road Friday, Feb. 10, bringing the Patriots’ record to 9-13 for the season.
“I thought our girls did a good job of setting the tone to start the game,” head coach Dylan Gehrke said.
“Defensively we played well all around.”
He said the Lady Pates were led offensively by junior guard Brynn Rauk, who had 19 points, six boards and four steals. 
“The girls knew she had the hot hand and did a good job of finding her for some open looks,” Gehrke said.
Junior Layla Deelstra posted eight points and three rebounds for H-BC, with four assists and two steals.
Eighth-grader Olivia Deelstra added seven points, six rebounds, one assist, one steal and one blocked shot.
Freshman Abbie Harris put down seven points and grabbed four rebounds with three assists and two steals.
Junior Lanae Elbers made two baskets and a free throw for five points. She also got three rebounds, and registered two assists, three steals and five blocked shots.
Junior Larissa Steinhoff contributed three points and five rebounds in the game.
Freshman Claire Knobloch had one free throw, three rebounds and one assist.
Senior Olivia Bork helped the team with two rebounds and one assist.
Freshman Ella Sammons added four rebounds and three steals in H-BC’s win.
H-BC was scheduled to travel to Adrian Feb. 14, and they’ll host Westbrook Walnut Grove Feb. 16 before meeting Elkton-Lake Benton Feb. 17 and playing Red Rock Central at home Feb. 20
