MCC 78, H-BC 38
The H-BC boys’ basketball team hosted Murray County Central Tuesday, Jan. 31.
“Murray County Central is a really good team on both ends of the floor. When you are struggling offensively, they are a tough team to match up with,” head coach Kale Wiertzema said.
The Patriots struggled in the game with the Rebels’ height and speed, losing 78-38.
“Currently we are lacking confidence in every aspect on the offensive end of the floor,” Wiertzema said.
“Our defense continues to play well enough to win. Last night we gave up a few too many offensive rebounds which turned into second chance points.”
Senior Brock Harnack led the Patriots with 10 points and one rebound.
Senior Brayden Metzger added nine points and two rebounds.
Sophomore Cameron Allen posted seven points, two rebounds, two steals and an assist.
Freshman Jamin Metzger made four points, two rebounds and one assist.
Sophomore Beau Bakken and freshman Micah Bush both contributed three points.
Bakken also had five rebounds and two assists and Bush had two rebounds and three assists.
Senior Riley Tatge made one free throw, grabbed four rebounds and had one assist.
Freshmen EJ Wegener also made one free throw, had two rebounds and one assist in the game.

H-BC 67, Edgerton 46
The Patriot boys’ basketball team hosted Edgerton Friday, Feb. 3, beating them 67-46.
“We did a great job changing the pace of the game with our defense,” Wiertzema said.
“ Edgerton is dealing with some injuries; we did a nice job utilizing our depth to speed up the game on both ends of the floor.”
Jamin Metzger led the Patriots with 14 points, four rebounds and two assists.
Harnack added 12 points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal.
Bush posted 10 points, five rebounds and two steals.
Sophomores Sawyer Bosch and Cameron Allen each added eight points.

Bakken grabbed nine rebounds in the win. He also made six points, three assists, one steal and one blocked shot.
Other Patriots that scored in the game were Tatge with four points, Brayden Metzger and EJ Wegener with two points each.
“It was also nice to see some shots go in,” Wiertzema said. “It was the first time in a while our shooting percentage was above 40 percent.”

H-BC 63, Elkton 55
The Hills-Beaver Creek boys’ basketball team traveled to Elkton Monday, Feb. 6, beating the Elks 63-55.
“We got off to a really slow start both halves and had to battle to close the gap to end the first and third quarters,” Wiertzema said.
Elkton-Lake Benton started the game shooting really well from the outside, having four threes in the first quarter.
“After settling into both halves our defense had another outstanding night,” said Wiertzema.
