Two recent Luverne High School graduates have been names to their respective spring sports’ all-state teams.
Billi Connell was one of 14 statewide players named to the Minnesota Class AA All-State Softball First Team.
Connell is the only softball player from the Big South Conference named to the team.
“Billi is an extremely hard-working and talented player,” said LHS softball coach Brooks Maurer.
“It’s always fun to see kids get rewarded for their hard work.”
Connell has signed to play softball at the University of Minnesota next year.
“I can’t wait to see what is in store for her playing for the Gophers!” Maurer said.
Casey Sehr was named to the 2022 Class AA All-State Baseball team.
Sehr, who plans to continue his baseball career at the University of Sioux Falls, is one of only three Big South Conference athletes named to an all-state team.
“Casey had an outstanding career for the Luverne Cardinals,” said LHS head coach Phil Paquette.
“Minnesota All-State recognition is well-deserved for his efforts on and off the baseball field,” Paquette said.
“Casey is a humble, hard-working and coachable baseball player. I look forward to watching his career continue as a Luverne Redbird and USF Cougar!”
