The Luverne American Legion baseball team opened its season with four games this week.
The Cardinals swept double-headers against Pipestone and Worthington to start the season 4-0.
Luverne will host Garretson tonight at Redbird Field before hosting its annual tournament this weekend.

The Cardinals built a lead that allowed the game to end in five innings in the first game of a double-header played in Luverne Monday.
The ten-run rule was utilized when the home team led Worthington 12-2 at the end of five innings.
Connor Hoffman pitched the entire game for Luverne.
Andrew Verhey was three for three at the plate with two hits and three runs batted in.
Hoffman, Tommy Vajgrt, and Ryan Gonzalez each had two hits for Luverne in the contest.

Nick Overgaard pitched all six innings of a 10-8 victory in the second game against the Worthington Legion team.
Joe Sommers led the offense for Luverne, going three for four at the plate while scoring two runs and batting in another run.
Connor Hoffman, Tommy Vajgrt and Jakob Olson all had two hits apiece for the home team.
Hoffman and Ryan Gonzalez also scored two runs each and Andrew Verhey batted in two runners.

Luverne’s Connor Crabtree pitched the entire five-inning game and struck out seven during the first of two contests played against the Pipestone Legion team on June 4.
Luverne scored all five of its runs in the third inning of the contest.
Joe Sommers led the offense for Luverne. He was three for three at the plate, including a double, while scoring one run and batting in another run.
Andrew Verhey was two for two with a double and two runs batted in for the Cardinals.
Nick Overgaard was two for three at the plate with one run batted in.

Luverne’s offense really came alive in the second game of a double-header in Pipestone June 4.
Crabtree led the offensive output for the Cardinals going three for three at the plate. He scored four runs and batted in three more.
Cole Bosch also went three for three in the game scoring three runs and batting in two more runners.
Verhey and Jakob Olson each scored two runs for Luverne with Olson adding two RBIs.
Bosch pitched four of the five innings in the game for Luverne. He gave up three hits and struck out three Pipestone batters.
Ryan Gonzalez came in to pitch the final inning for Luverne.
