MINUTES OF THE SCHOOL BOARD MEETING OF
INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 2184,
ROCK COUNTY, LUVERNE, MINNESOTA
A regular meeting of the Board of Education, ISD #2184, was held in the District Office on September 25, 2025, at 7:00 p.m.
The following members were present: Ryan DeBates, Michael DeBates, Tim Jarchow, Zach Nolz, Eric Hartman, and David Wrigg. Also present: Craig Oftedahl, Terry Eernisse, Becky Rahm, Jason Berghorst, April Wallace, and Mavis Fodness-Rock County Star Herald.
Chairperson Eric Hartman opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. Motion made by Zach Nolz, seconded by Ryan DeBates to approve the agenda as presented. Motion unanimously carried.
Administrative reports were given.
Motion made by Ryan DeBates, seconded by Zach Nolz, to approve August 28, 2025, school board meeting minutes as presented. Motion unanimously carried.
Motion made by Tim Jarchow, second by Zach Nolz, to approve the following donations:
American Legion Post 478- Huddle Program $1250
American Legion Lounge- Huddle Program $1250
American Legion Post 478- School Patrol $39.50
Motion unanimously carried.
Business Manager Terry Eernisse reviewed the district bills with the school board. Motion made by Ryan DeBates, second by Michael DeBates to approve the payments as presented in the amount of $677,131.17 with payroll in the amount of $1,044,248.89 for a grand total of $1,721,380.06. Motion unanimously carried.
Motion made by David Wrigg, seconded by Heather Johnson to receive the Student Activity Report showing the balances as of August 31, 2025. Motion unanimously carried.
Motion made by Heather Johnson, second by David Wrigg, to approve the facility usage for the Tri-State Band Festival. Motion unanimously carried.
Business Manager Terry Eernisse reviewed the Preliminary Levy 2025 Payable 2026. It was recommended that the school board approve the maximum at this time. Motion made by Michael DeBates, seconded by Heather Johnson, to approve the maximum preliminary level. Motion unanimously carried.
Motion made by Ryan DeBates, seconded by David Wrigg, to approve the World’s Best Workforce and MCA testing information presented by Jason Phelps. Motion unanimously carried.
Motion made by Tim Jarchow, seconded by Ryan DeBates, to accept Mr. Oftedahl’s notice of intent to negotiate. Motion unanimously carried.
Motion made by Michael DeBates, seconded by David Wrigg, to approve Cody Henrichs as volunteer march band coach. Motion unanimously carried.
Motion made by Ryan DeBates, seconded by David Wrigg, to approve the hiring of Wanda Jarchow as bus driver for the 2025-2026 school year. Motion unanimously carried.
Motion made by David Wrigg, seconded by Zach Nolz, to approve the hiring of Terry King as bus driver for the 2025-2026 school year. Motion unanimously carried.
Motion made by Tim Jarchow, seconded by Heather Johnson, to approve the hiring of Stan Wieneke as bus driver for the 2025-2026 school year. Motion unanimously carried.
Committee reports were given.
The upcoming meeting dates were reviewed. Motion made by Zach Nolz, seconded by Tim Jarchow, to adjourn the meeting. Motion unanimously carried.
