Rita Mae Robinson

Rita Mae (Kafka) Robinson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, passed away March 30, 2026, following a lengthy cancer battle. 

She was born Aug. 31, 1949, in Luverne to Joe and Rose (Musil) Kafka. Her mother died when she was seven, and Rita contracted polio at a young age. 

She graduated from Luverne High School in 1968, and received a college degree in social work/ psychology. She worked for 20 years at the Sioux City Crittenton Center, and was the emergency shelter director when retiring. 

Rita is survived by her husband, Chuck Robinson; daughter, Carie (Andy) Greer; her brother, Joe (Gina) Kafka; her sisters Barb Kruger and Lori Bullis; three grandchildren: Rhea (Cameron) Abbas, Andrew Greer and John Greer; and lifelong friend Mary (Foight) Sites. 

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Rose (Musil) Kafka; three brothers, Jerome, Ray and Randy Kafka; sister, Rosemary Catalan; and brothers-in-law, Lewey Kruger and Gene Bullis.
