Ramona Marilyn Boisen Beug joined the Heavenly Father on Friday July 5, 2024, at the age of 93, surrounded by loved ones.

Ramona was born to John and Mabel (Bly) Boisen on February 4, 1931, in Luverne Minnesota. She grew up and attended school there and graduated with the class of 1949. After graduation she worked for a year at Northwestern Bell as a telephone operator. During that time, she pursued her passion in art through an art instruction correspondence course. She was a beautifully talented artist and calligrapher.

Ramona was united in marriage to Herbert Beug on August 26, 1950, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Luverne. They continued to make their home in Luverne where they raised their family of six children. As a stay-at-home mom, Ramona enjoyed sewing, baking, cooking and gardening. She was a devout Christian and was involved in many church activities. She also was a member of the Mrs. Jaycees, volunteered with the Fireman’s Auxiliary and was a Cub Scout Leader for her sons.

In November 1969, her family moved to Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, to set down roots. She worked in the family-owned Coast to Coast Hardware Store which later became Beug’s Ace Hardware that spanned three generations. Ramona curated the selections for the housewares and gifts department and managed the bookkeeping.

In retirement she enjoyed devoting her time to church activities. She cherished her time with family and friends, found joy in gardening and tending to her flower bed while living on Munson Lake.

Her presence will be deeply missed as well as her daily phone calls to ensure the well-being of those she loved most. We will cherish our memories but most of all her amazing hugs.

Ramona is survived by her sons, David (Mary) Beug of San Antonio, Texas, Bruce Beug of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, Mark (Barb) Beug of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, and Greg (Jacinda) Beug of Vail, Arizona; son-in-law Gary Padrta of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Evelyn (Marty) Steffel of Nevis, Minnesota; three nephews and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 61 years, Herb Beug in 2011; son Chris Beug in 2012; daughter Carol Padrta in 2017; infant daughter Pamela Ann Beug in 1953; daughter-in-law Corinne Beug in 2014; sister-in-law Darlene Boisen in 2019; and brother Jarvis Beug in 2023.

Memorial services will be on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne, Minnesota.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the West-Kjos Funeral Home of Detroit Lakes.
