Margaret “Margie” Anderson, age 96, of Luverne, Minnesota, died on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, surrounded by her family at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage in Luverne.
Visitation will be Friday, June 6, from 5-7 p.m. at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, June 7, at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at St. Catherine Cemetery in Luverne.

Margaret “Margie” Mary Anderson was born on September 21, 1928, in Ellsworth, Minnesota, to William and Margaret (Schommer) Bofenkamp. She was baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellsworth. Margie grew up in Ellsworth with her nine siblings and graduated from Ellsworth Catholic School in 1946.
Margie moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to attend nursing school to become an LPN. She was very proud of her nursing career as an LPN and being able to work as a nurse for her uncle, Doc Bofenkamp in Luverne, Minnesota.
On July 20, 1961, Margie was united in marriage to Toby Anderson in Ellsworth. They settled in Luverne where they were blessed with two children, Julie (Wesley) Obritsch and Timothy (Barb) Anderson.
Margie was a longtime member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne. She enjoyed playing cards, board games, and crossword puzzles. She also loved gardening and taking the fruits of her garden’s harvest into her kitchen where she was an amazing cook. Margie adored her Yorkies and will be remembered for her fun-loving demeanor, sense of humor, and joyful spirit.
Margie spent the later years of her life at the Oaks, Poplar Creek, then Oasis Care Home, and finally Sanford Hospice Cottage. On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, Margie died peacefully surrounded by her family at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage in Luverne at the age of 96 years, 8 months, and 13 days.
Margie is survived by her children, Julie (Wesley) Obritsch of Lanesboro, Minnesota, and Tim (Barb) Anderson of Luverne; brother, Leo Bofenkamp of Worthington, Minnesota; sister, Evelyn Manhold of Grand Island, Nebraska; five granddaughters, Sarah Obritsch, Olivia (Anthony) Olimpio, Jessica Anderson (Benjamin Wagner), Kaitlyn Anderson, and Abigail Anderson; and brother-in-law Floyd Olson.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Toby Anderson; parents, William and Margaret Bofenkamp; siblings, Father Andrew Bofenkamp, Madeline Swanson, Mildred Schweigert, John Bofenkamp, Catherine Untiedt, Lorraine Zuraff, and Mary Ann Olson.
