Joyce McClure

Joyce McClure

Joyce Ellen McClure, age 66, died peacefully at Ava’s Hospice House in Sioux Falls on Friday, March 15, 2024.

Joyce was born on March 26, 1957, to Melford and Alyce McClure in Luverne, Minnesota.  She grew up in Luverne and graduated from Luverne High School in 1975.

Following graduation, Joyce was married to Doug Suhr. They lived in San Antonio, Texas, Madison, South Dakota, and finally settled in Aurora, Colorado. After their divorce, Joyce remained in Colorado until May 1985, when she moved back to Luverne. Years later, Joyce moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where she was employed with CNA Surety for 30-plus years as a customer service representative.

Joyce loved animals, especially Max and Shep, her dogs. In fact, she loved everyone else’s dogs, too! In addition to being an animal lover, she also was very involved with ‘Stampin Up’ card making, which she enjoyed doing with her mother (Alyce). Joyce was an avid talker, crafter, Walmart shopper, and proficient gift giver, especially when it came to her nieces, Shelby and Madison.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Melford and Alyce McClure.

Joyce is survived by her sisters, Linda (Peter Olsen) McClure of Vining, Minnesota, and Julie (Todd) McChesney of Elk River, Minnesota; as well as her cherished nieces, Shelby McChesney, St. Michael, Minnesota, and Madison McChesney, Bloomington, Minnesota. She is also survived by numerous relatives and friends.

Heritage Funeral Home was entrusted to care of Joyce.
