Local 4-H'ers compete at state horse events

Six 4-H’ers represented Rock County at the 2025 Minnesota State 4-H Horse Show Sept. 5-9 at the Simons Arena in Cannon Falls.

Gabriella Porter, Reagan Spath, Blakely Fick, Claire Boeve, Caul Bonnett and Hayden Devine represented the county in the horseless horse project, and the riding events of games and pleasure.

Porter of Luverne received a third-place place ribbon in the horseless horse project.

Spath of Hills participated in Grade 10 poles, key hole and barrels.

Fick of Luverne received second place in Grade 8 western pleasure and eighth place in western horsemanship. She also participated in western showmanship.

Claire Boeve of Steen placed seventh in Grade 9 western showmanship and participated in western pleasure, western horsemanship, trail and hunt seat pleasure.

Caul Bonnett of Magnolia participated in Grade 7 poles, key hole, jumping figure eight and barrels.

Hayden Devine of Garretson competed in Grade 6 events and placed second in hunt seat equitation, third in western showmanship, ninth in Grades 6-7 trial, and fifth in western horsemanship. He also showed in western pleasure and hunt seat pleasure.

The show, normally conducted on the Minnesota State Fairgrounds, was moved to Cannon Falls due to the renovation of the Coliseum.

Bonnett, Peyton Blom, Paige Blom, Allison Honken and Andrea Honken participated in the 4-H Western Heritage Competition in both the regional and state levels.
