When Al Hartz first applied for a job with the Rock County Highway Department in 1983, he could have hardly imagined it would be his career for more than 40 years. 

The Blue Mound Quilters Guild hosted the annual quilt show at the Historic Hinkly House over the Buffalo Days weekend.

Luverne has a reputation for being a “clean and pleasant” town, with rows of stately homes, shaded drives and manicured lawns. 

This year, with Highway 75 construction in the middle of town, it’s harder to pull off that image for visitors. 

The body parts of Luverne’s giant nutcracker are slowly being assembled on the nutcracker’s base — at Those Blasted Things in Luverne. The arms were attached last week to the existing torso, boots, legs.

The Rock County Sheriff’s Office is adjusting its fees for fingerprinting, among other price changes.
