The Luverne boys’ hockey team started the season with three wins in the past week.

The Cardinals beat Marshall 2-1 at home Nov. 28, punished Redwood Valley 18-1 on the road Nov. 30, and beat Waseca 2-1 at home Dec. 1.

LHS will face New Ulm Friday, Dec. 8, at home.

The Luverne girls’ hockey team beat Marshall 4-1 on the road Nov. 28 and Waseca 5-1 at home Dec. 2 to bring the Cardinals’ season record to 4-3.

Luverne is scheduled to host Mankato East Saturday, Dec. 9, and will travel to play Austin Monday, Dec. 11.

The Hills-Beaver Creek girls’ basketball team won its home opener 62-15 over Red Rock Central Friday, Dec. 1.

“I thought the girls did a great job of playing with intensity and toughness on defense, which led to some easy buckets on the offensive end,” head coach Dylan Gehrke said.

The Luverne girls’ basketball team played three games this past week, winning two and falling in one game.

Luverne traveled to Edgerton Friday, Dec. 1, and fell to Southwest Minnesota Christian 51-42.

The Luverne boys’ basketball team opened the 2023-24 season facing two tough teams on the road.

On Friday, Dec. 1, LHS lost to Southwest Minnesota Christian 85-71 in Edgerton.

The next day, Saturday, Dec. 2, the Cardinals faced Montevideo and fell 64-44.

The Luverne High School wrestling team participated in the Flandreau Booster Club Invitational Saturday, Dec. 2.

The LHS boys’ team took second place out of 12 teams at the event.

The LHS girls’ team placed first at the invitational.
