Golf boys sweep triangular meet in Sanborn Friday

By John RittenhouseThe Hills-Beaver Creek-Ellsworth boys’ golf team outplayed the competition at the Red Rock Central Triangular in Sanborn Friday.The Patriots raised their season record to 6-5 by beating RRC and Sioux Valley-Round Lake-Brewster at the event.H-BC-E tallied 182 strokes as a team to edge RRC (185) and SV-RL-B (189).Kyle Sammons set the stage for victory by earning medalist honors at the meet. Sammons shot a four-over-par 40 to lead all players.Blake Brommer pitched in a 46 to the winning team effort, while Tom Janssen and Dustin Bonnema added 48s.Clint Roozenboom and Travis Broesder shot 52- and 58-stroke rounds without making an impact on the team effort.Alex Pfaar shot a five-over-par 41 to lead the host team.Jared Smith shot a seven-over-par 43 to pace SV-RL-B.The 6-4 Patriots will compete at the Red Rock Conference meet in Fulda today before playing at the Sub-Section 10 Championships in Worthington Thursday.
