By Sara StrongGreg LaFond, Altoona, Wis., was the unanimous choice to be Luverne’s new city administrator after extensive interviews Saturday.LaFond was most recently administrator, treasurer and clerk in Altoona from 1998 through 2003. Altoona is larger than Luverne with a population of 7,800.He graduated from the University of Wisconsin, LaCrosse, in 1974 with a bachelor’s degree in political science.He’s indicated a tentative start date of Sept. 2.The Luverne City Council has called a special meeting Friday at noon to pass a final employment package for LaFond.
