Monday was World Alzheimer’s Day, and September is World Alzheimer’s Month, an international campaign to raise awareness, challenge stigma and promote support. 

Here in Rock County local volunteers are planning a “Dementia Walk” under the theme, “Love Never Ends.”

After attending and considering arguments from both sides in the public meeting on a proposed charter amendment in Luverne tonight, I’m leaning in favor of a commission based on the city’s policy of contributing to entities unrelated to utilities.

Days when maple sugar was a more common household item than white sugar are remembered by Mrs. Minnie Ford, now a resident of Hardwick, but who lived in Luverne from 1916 until about three years ago.

An exclusive club of retired teachers is gaining members who gather annually at the start of the school year. 

This year the group included nearly 40 women, some recent retirees and some who have been retired longer than they were teachers.

Tuna noodle casserole, peas, dinner roll, hot spiced peaches and vanilla pudding with whipped topping. 

Tuesday, Sept. 29: Sloppy Joe on a bun, country vegetable blend, summer pasta salad and fruit crumble.

Loopy’s Dollar Store manager Amy Krueger said Tuesday that owners Gary and Tom Ploeger of Pipestone recently announced the local store’s closure. … 

Kristi Morphew, age 67, of Trosky, Minn., passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 14, 2026, at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage in Luverne, Minn.
