LeRoy Schroeder, age 82 of Beaver Creek, Minn., passed away Friday, May 29, 2026, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. 

Lorraine H. Klooster, age 97, of Luverne, died Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at the Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Ellsworth. 

Visitation was from 4-7 p.m. Friday, May 29, at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne. 

A private family service and burial will take place at a later date. 

LaDell Petersen, age 97, of Tyler, Minn., passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026, at the Avera Tyler Sunrise Manor in Tyler. 

The Hills-Beaver Creek School Board has approved two bids related to new lighting for the school’s football field. 

The first bid, by Musco Sports Lighting, will be for the materials, including the 4-foot field lights. The bid was approved earlier this spring at $93,000. 

I’m not clear the number of phones I have owned. I recall my first cell phone was an actual phone in a carry bag that could be used in a vehicle. I thought this would be my first and last phone. After all, could it get any better? Indeed it has. From that first phone to a flip phone.
